Encore Boston Harbor is a luxury global destination gaming resort that features 671 hotel rooms with sweeping views of the Boston skyline and Boston Harbor, ultra-premium spa, luxury retail, high-end dining, and state-of-the-art ballroom and meeting spaces. At a total cost of $2.6 billion, it is the largest private single-phase development in the history of the Commonwealth.  Situated on the waterfront along the Mystic River and connected to Boston Harbor, Encore Boston Harbor includes a six-acre park along the water that features a harbor walk, an events lawn, public viewing areas, ornate floral displays and retail and dining experiences that overlook the Encore Harbor Walk. 

The Encore Boston Harbor Regional Sales Manager - Remote is responsible for business development, specifically in the Metro New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and mid-Atlantic areas.  Applicant must be located in the NY/NJ area. This position will uncover and generate leads for the Encore Boston Harbor.

The position is a remote, work from home position and will be required to spend 2 – 4 days per month at the hotel for business meetings, site inspections when required and client events. The position requires the candidate to continuously and strategically prospect and uncover new business via prospecting, outside sales calls to clients. trade shows, FAM tours at the property, social media, existing client relationships, internet and reader board report search, attending networking functions, etc. It is imperative all of the client requirements and information are provided to the Catering Sales Manager and Group Housing Coordinator to ensure a seamless transition to the property

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Have a good understanding of the hotel sales strategy/goals and be able to make sound business decisions based on knowledge of the hotel’s strategy and revenue goals.
  • Seasoned sales professional that knows the NY/NJ/PA and mid-Atlantic market and have an established corporate and association customer base.
  • Ability to work independently, prospecting, making outside sales calls, client presentations, entertainment, attend client and industry events to include in-market trade shows, etc.
  • Uncovers group leads in the NY/NJ/PA and Mid-Atlantic areas and refers the leads back to the appropriate sales person at the property.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business.
  • Manages short-and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement. Identifies key drivers of success.
  • Effectively evaluates, prospects, solicits and sells group business as required to meet individual and departmental sales room night and revenue goals and overall departmental sales and catering profitability.
  • Develop and grow relationships with key accounts to maximize sales potential.
  • Executes pre-qualification of accounts and conducts rate negotiations, site inspections, outside sales calls and follow-up to all clients.
  • Creates appropriate group proposals, contracts, addendums, in accordance with departmental guidelines and procedures and all client correspondence relative to bookings.
  • Input all client correspondence and activity into the Delphi sales system, maintaining accurate and detailed information on all accounts to include rooms, function space, catering details, reservations, billing, etc.
  • Represents Encore Boston Harbor at assigned trade shows, industry conferences and client events, local community events and conducts outside client sales calls.
  • Makes sales presentations to clients and organizations as necessary.
  • Manages and responds to all Requests for Proposal (RFPs) in a timely manner, within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Maintains current knowledge of competitive properties.
  • Formulating quarterly sales action plans consisting of strategies and action plans in conjunction with attaining hotel and departmental sales strategies.
  • Utilizes knowledge of local/regional sales opportunities to drive conference sales revenue.
  • Partner with marketing to leverage marketing programs and drive conference sales.
  • Works with safety as a priority, and follows department and company safety standards.
  • Maintains relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.

Job Requirements

Must be located in the NJ/NY/PA area and work remotely from a home base office.

Proven track record of business development in the NY/NJ/PA area

Age, Gaming and Certifications:

21 years of age or above.

Will be required to obtain and maintain registration or a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Education and/or Experience: 

Hotel sales experience working and handling the corporate and association markets in the NY/NJ/PA/Mid-Atlantic areas with a proven track record of success.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.

Minimum 5 years of Hotel Sales and Catering experience required.

Requires strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.

Knowledge of Delphi sales system a plus

Must possess outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, as well as excellent attention to detail.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus.  Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.

Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to decipher reports and maintain reports on request.
